Pink Opal is a semi opaque to opaque variety of what is known as common opal (no play of colour like Australian Opal) and is from Peru. It comes from the Acari mine which is in Caraveli province. Characterized by a very pretty pink colour tone which can range from a light to darker hue, sometimes almost to a reddish tint. It is almost always cabbing material and with a hardness of 6 is good for durability. |
